Case Study
A DEA in the Field
How David turned the EPC work he was already doing into £600+ a month in extra revenue.
2–3 reportsper week
£600+extra per month
5 minutesper report
David runs Greener Homes London. EPCs, site visits, lodgements. The usual rhythm.
David's clients were largely in the dark about their retrofit options. The only real route was to speak to a Retrofit Coordinator, which meant paying upfront just to understand what was possible. So in most cases, nothing happened. David moved onto the next survey.
Then he tried Ivynest.

David Chapman
Greener Homes London
“
“Ivynest has allowed me to offer much more than a standard EPC. Using XML data, I can generate a full retrofit plan in a matter of minutes, export it as a PDF, and send it straight to the client. It’s helped me upsell my services while giving homeowners and landlords a much clearer view of their retrofit options.”
What David’s clients get:
- Three upgrade pathways
- Real costs, not estimates
- Grants that actually applied
- ROI a homeowner can read
Not a compliance document. Something the client can act on.
See what he sent his clientBy adding an Ivynest retrofit report, David increased his EPC fee from £70 to £150 for around 5 minutes of additional work.
But the bigger shift wasn’t the extra revenue. It was the positioning.
He’s no longer just the person who delivers the certificate. He’s the person clients call when they’re deciding what to do next.
The Opportunity
The Gap
1 in 5 EPC clients want to know what’s next.
Right now, your options are:
- Refer them to a Retrofit Coordinator (too big a step for most)
- Tell them nothing
Ivynest gives you a third option. A clear plan, real costs, and upgrade paths. From the DEA they already trust.

Why Now
The regulatory tailwind
MEES is changing
The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard currently requires rental properties to be EPC E or above. The government is consulting on raising that to EPC C by 2030. When that lands, millions of landlords will need to act, and they’ll be asking their DEA what to do.
Warm Homes funding is growing
The government’s Warm Homes Plan is channelling billions into home upgrades, insulation, heat pumps, solar. Your clients can already access grants, but most don’t know what they qualify for or where to start.
The timing may be uncertain, but your clients are already asking what they should do next. Do you have an answer for them?

FAQs
Questions we always hear
Everything you need to know before getting started with Ivynest.
No. Ivynest is built for DEAs. You use your existing EPC data and the platform handles the retrofit design, costing, and report generation for you. No additional accreditation needed.
Yes, this is exactly who it's for. You're already collecting the data, Ivynest simply turns that into a paid upgrade. Instead of just delivering an EPC, you can offer a retrofit plan alongside it and increase the value of each job.
You charge your client for the retrofit report. Most DEAs charge £60–£80 per report, while Ivynest costs £20 on pay-as-you-go. That leaves a clear margin on every job, using data you've already collected.
Not every client will want one, but many homeowners are increasingly interested in energy improvements, especially with rising energy costs and regulations. This works best as an optional add-on — you simply offer it, and some clients will say yes.
Around 5 minutes. You upload your EPC data and Ivynest generates the full retrofit plan automatically. No manual calculations or extra site work needed.
There isn't one. You can create an account and try it out with no commitment. You only pay when you generate a report for a client. Most people start by offering it to a few clients — if no one's interested, you've lost a few minutes. If they are, you've added a new revenue stream.
We're currently integrated with Elmhurst and actively building support for ECMK and Quidos. If you're not on Elmhurst yet, we can show you a demo using a sample file and let you know as soon as your software is supported.
No. You upload the same XML you already lodge to the EPC register. Nothing about your survey process changes.
